In February I attended Photonative a wonderful photography conference born from the idea of community over competition. I went because there was such an awesome line up of photographers teaching who I truly admire and am inspired by. I went with really no expectations because it was my first conference of any kind. It was ... I am having trouble putting into words what it was. Life changing sounds cliche, but really awesome totally falls flat. I guess I can measure it by the fact that I spent every minute of my 4 hour flight delay and the entire flight home writing and writing about everything - ideas for shoots, ways to grow my business, insights into creating a real process for my photography. Just everything. I refer back to that notebook again and again. Little snippets from the speakers pop into my head so often. It is something i want to attend every year!
Part of the weekend included a styled shoot with Jessica Kettle. Everything about that shoot was epic. She truly put together something beautiful and it was so much fun to photograph! It was also my first exposure to shooting medium format film thanks to the guys at Alpine Film Lab who sponsored the shoot! They scanned all the images in this post I did not edit a single one! The benefits of film!
